Sanergy’s engineering team is always looking for new ways to fit our Fresh Life Toilets into the densely-packed slums of Nairobi. Indeed, we’ve found ways to build in some incredibly narrow alleyways. Now, we’re beginning to build where other toilets have been built before.

Here at Sanergy we share Greenbelt Movement founder Wangari Muta Maathai’s sentiment. (Unbowed, pp 137-38) We proved her right last week, with the aid of one hundred primary school students.

Bright Angels Academy, Stevens Group of Schools Academy, and Jaombi Foundation Primary School, three schools that provide Fresh Life Toilets for their students’ use, joined us last Wednesday for our World Environment Day community cleanup, edutainment, and school tree planting ceremonies.

Last week, Sanergy achieved a great milestone: one of our teammates from the Mukuru community, Samuel Muindi, purchased a Fresh Life Toilet for his family to run as a business.  To us, this is a great validation of our model.
