We are excited to announce Sanergy is the recipient of a USAID Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) Stage 2 grant. DIV marries innovation and evidence to find, test, and scale breakthrough solutions to the world’s most intractable development challenges.

In 2011 we received a Stage 1 DIV grant to establish proof of concept for our model. That support allowed us to rapidly exceed our goal of selling, installing, and operating 60 sanitation facilities in Mukuru, Nairobi. With this Stage 2 DIV grant, we will be able to scale our sanitation infrastructure and our waste processing operations, converting much greater volumes of waste into organic fertilizer using a new, significantly more efficient process.

As of May 2013, Sanergy has built a network of 177 sanitation facilities run by 99 entrepreneurs that serves over 8,000 residents daily. We look forward to expanding our operations into other Nairobi slums so that we can provide more people with affordable, hygienic sanitation.

More details forthcoming.
